Did Jodie Foster date Kim Basinger?
This may be a joke, and at the very least it is an unsubstantiated rumor, but it's a totally delicious one. A friend tipped us off to a listing on eBay (that ended yesterday) of a 1989 fax on David Hockney studio letterhead that contains a hearsay statement that John Waters said he saw Jodie Foster on a date with Kim Basigner!

"JOHN WATERS TOLD ME LAST NIGHT
HE WENT OUT LAST SUNDAY WITH JODIE
FOSTER & HER "DATE" KIM BASSINGER TO
DYKE NIGHT A[T] PALLETTE, AND THEY WERE/ARE
DEFINATALLY "TOGETHER". Poor KELLY McGILLIS IS HEARTBROKEN!"
More details below...

Acquisition History
This item was discarded by David Hockney's studio, located at 7506 Santa Monica Boulevard, Los Angeles (West Hollywood), California 90046, in 1989 and retrieved outside the premises in a trash container with public access by an employee of Data-Boy, publisher of the long-running gay bar publication, located directly next door at 7512 Santa Monica Boulevard. In late 1989, I purchased a small box of material, representative of what you see in this and other listings this week, at a garage sale held by the Data-Boy employee on Crescent Heights Boulevard a few blocks west of Fairfax Avenue. When I asked the employee if he had additional material for sale, he replied that having been discovered, the employees of the Hockney studio padlocked the trash container to prevent further access, and that no efforts had been made by the Hockney studio to elicit return of the discarded items.
