we caught some of the time trials on Allen St. Wed night. the bikers we met were from very friendly and excited for the event (and all from around the country.) we had to wonder if the NYC actually condones this edgy event as cops seemed very angry when they pulled over one of the bikers for zipping up Allen. more info on the Gothamist.

Tom likes a he
we just can't get enough of the the Tom Cruise roller coaster ride... a clever reader of the excellent site A Socialite's Life figured out that "Katie Holmes" is an anagram for "Tom likes a he" - HAAA! that's just too good. we couldn't resist checking an anagram site for versions of "Tom Cruise", and this one made us laugh "Scrotum ie"

shown above are 2 of our favorites pieces:
'Rupert' - Tissue box concealing secret condom drawer. Designed by Eva Menz.
'Really useful bookcase' - The bookcase doubles as coffin, when the time comes. Lid is stored on the back. Designed by Kenneth Grange.

check out their slide show for more fascinating and innovative work.

small victory for NY pot smokers
the Gothamist reported last week that the NYPD may be scaling back small pot busts - halleluiah! we've been holding smoke-in's around the city for over a year now in protest of NYC's ridiculous waste of money aggressively hunting down small time joint busts - so this is music to our ears!

more info on NYC's (hopefully former) small time pot bust campaign, in the post that started our public smoke-ins - Beware of The Man in the Van. and here are some of our favorite smoke-in photos from the last year...
