good ‘n cheap Indian food
for decades E 6th, and the areas around 1st and 2nd Aves at either ends have been packed with cheap Indian restaurants. over the years we’ve had our favorites, and recently some new places like Angon on 6th, Banjara and Bricklane have brought some nice higher fare to the area. but for our money the best place in the strip is Indian Curry Mahal. it’s kind of a down and dirty place. we mostly get delivery, but the food is very good and super cheap! the flavors are rich, chicken is very tender, servings are insanely generous, breads homemade, and the food is never overly greasy.

this order consists of Papadam and Vegatable Samosas appetizers; Cheese Poori and Onion Kulcha bread; Chana Saag and Chicken Tikka Masala entrées; plus raita sauce and a bunch of free condiments, rice and dahl. the order was $20.05 with tax (not tip) and we had to throw out food after 2 full dinners (for 2 people plus Buddy’s share)
